My Name is Roman Barrus  My background is carpentry and have always had great love for cooking and food. Some may say I am "self taught". I am mostly learned by watching others in the kitchen. I marveled how my grandmother could seemingly pull a meal together out of what seemed like nothing at the time. I have spent many of my days reading cookbooks, especially old ones, and seeking out information and ideas from other chefs. I also learned from pain, The pain of not having money to afford the "better" convience foods. Most of my approach is using whole foods in bulk and fresh produce. This is not all that I do but it is truly where my passion lies. I love using whole grains, nuts, oils, produce and essential oils to see what i can create and taste.

Everything I needed to know about production and construction I learned in cooking school. In the DVD you will observe some of the best practices in the kitchen, where and when not to use essential oils directly into food, the foundation of how to cook with of each oil, safety, procedures, and more.

As in construction the foundation is the most important element. By far the most important seasoning is salt. There is no food without it. It harmonizes and balances the flavors . The DVD gets into the importance of condiments. In ancient times people were paid with salt.That is where the word salary comes from. A good sea or earth salt balances us too with minerals.

The intention of the 'EatPlant, Cooking with Essential Oils class' is to create a fun and educational class that is duplicatable for introducing oils to others through cooking. Everyone eats and most cook, that is why this is a great way to have your friends and family experience the essential oils  in such a simple and familiar way. Just prepare the simple items ahead of time (10-15 mins to prep). Put in the DVD, pause at tasting time. You then discuss a little about the  values of the oils....You are Golden! To end the class you can explain the most intelligent way to get the Essential Oils or you can simply let the footage roll and have my lovely and attractive wife handle the close.

The DVD includes instruction to help the host prepare and how to get everthing in place before beginning the class. This is simplicity, and there is plenty of content that focuses on the self reliance

What the world needs is not another cookbook, right? Not really, there are so many. EatPlant is about cooking principles not a Cookbook. More like formulas that you can use pretty much anywhere, so that you will learn to truly become a cook with Essential Oils, usung new knowledge to create taste in the Kitchen and not a list of limited intructions. I am a proponent of the average cook. What we are fighting here is time. Society is changing, foods are changing. As cooks it is our job to make food taste good in a practical amount of time. You can look at this as a mini self apprenticeship program. You will have techniques, knowledge of how best to use the oils that bring out the best qualities of food, and effective ways to deliver the explosion of flavor the oils offer.

Every recipe has the ingredients and quantities. They are easy to subsitute with your fresh ingredients.
